Department of Archaeology 
In order to protect and maintain the ancient monuments of local importance worth protecting in Delhi, other than those of national importance protected and maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India, Government of India, an Act namely “The Delhi Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 2004”, (DAHMASR Act 2004) was enacted w.e.f. 07.09.2005 by the Government of NCT of Delhi.
