5. Brief History The palace seems to have been a Shikargah built by Firoz Shah Tughlaq along with a bund probably in 1354 A.D. Firoz Shah built a number of bunds or embankments in and around Delhi, and at many of these sites he constructed hunting lodges. The palace stands at the southern end of the bund and is entered through double doorways at its north-east corner. The structure is in the form of a rectangle on the east and south and the walls on east and south sides are strengthened with bastions. But on the north and west it is roughly semi-circular from the gateway as far as its south- west corner. The principal portions of it seem to have been laid towards the west but nothing of this edifice except the doorways and the south and east walls now exists.
6. Architectural style It’s a rectangular enclosure with double doorways in the north east corner. The entrance gate has a pointed arch with medallions on each corner. The palace is built in two storeys, the lower storey has small rooms with a courtyard in front; while in the upper storey there is a contemporary washroom built separated by a wall which opens in a courtyard as well. The southern & eastern walls of the enclosure are strengthened with bastions and pavilion remains. The construction is mainly of random rubble masonry, consisting of Delhi quartzite stones bound by limestone mortar, and covered with limestone plaster.
