| 5. | Brief History | Maulavi Zafar Hasan has documented this tomb in his listing of Delhi Monuments first published in 1920 CE. He dates the tomb to early Mughal period and presumed that the name Chaumachi Khan was perhaps a corrupt version of Shamsuddin Khan but no other reference is found related to this tomb. Zafar Hasan records three ruined graves but presently remains of only one grave is found inside the chamber. |
| 6. | Architectural style | The tombs stands on a platform which originally had small domed chattris at each of the four angles, but only one of these at the north east corner still survives. The tomb has an octagonal plan externally and has a square chamber inside. Its architectural style and features such as the painted floral kanguras, painted spandrels of the arches, ribbed vaulted squinches etc. denote Mughal period but the dome is squat and rounded similar to the monuments of Lodi period, most of its features are intact and remains of paintings are also can be seen here. |
