Unlike some other Lodi Period tombs Gol Gumbad does not have a Mihrab recess on the west side wall. |
6. | Architectural style | It has a square base plan with recessed Pointed arch and central doorway, Jali over the doorways. A staircase on the southern side leads to the terrace. The circular medallion at the centre of soffit of the domed ceiling is highly ornamental and an exemplary art work. Another feature of this simple yet stout structure is battlements at the parapet level Externally, one of the characteristics of the Tughlaq and Lodi period monuments. The tomb is constructed of random rubble masonry with fine layer of plaster. |
